Mail went at 7.30 am. I had to run two blocks to catch it. 2nd Battalion arrived in camp at 11 am. Call to arms came at 3 p.m., causing great excitement, firstly with the Colorados and then with our own regiment. I was in bed pretty sick with my sore arm and diarrhoea but was up in a jiffy! Our company took up position on the beach and remained there until 11.30 p.m., but it was a false alarm.
