This is a pretty day and Company C was relieved by Company D after eating breakfast consisting of steak, bread and coffee. We were ordered to remain about quarters as the paymaster would pay us his visit. After dinner we formed a line and marched to the opera house. All the boys are happy and most of them went to town and had a good time and did lots of shopping. The Major [Everhart Bierer] says that this will be the last pay we would receive on this island indicating that we will probably go home in a few months. [Frank] Christopher, [Charles] Lewis, [Alec] Ewing, [Max] Hannan, [James] Baird and [John] Curry are on the sick list.
