This morning it is nice and clear but in the afternoon we had heavy showers. Company C went out on outpost to relieve Company B of the First Battalion. This duty has become a pleasure to the boys as they have nothing to do for there are only two posts and they spend time lounging around and listening to the tick of the telegraph instrument. After dark, the natives could be seen prowling around in the rice field with searchlights looking for something. [Frank] Christopher, [Max] Hannan, [James] Baird, [William] Kennedy, [John] Curry, [Ray] Sparks, [George] Conn and [George W.] Miller are on the sick list.
