It has rained pretty near all night and most of the day it rains as well. This is a very quiet day on account of the wet weather. I had an invitation for a dinner out on a plantation with some German friend and enjoyed my trip very much. Had a splendid dinner of eight different courses. We all attended services at the Opera House where Chaplain Fleming from the Colorado Regiment preached and the Colorado band furnished the music which was grand. The South Dakota people are guarding the jails. Co. A, 10th is on outpost. [Charles] Herrington, [Samuel] Rockwell and George Conn remain on the sick list.
