Sunday 1-8-99

Laid around all a.m. & in p.m. at 4, the boys sung at a funeral of a steward of the reserve hospital, in Paco Cemetery. Sung at evening meeting led by Chaplain Thompson, then went to Filipino Theater and sung in two main numbers for monument to fallen heroes at Manila. Theater has dirt floor –dress circle with matting, chairs & in rear the gallery, with benches & fair stage, good crowd, saw George Dewey and Gen. Otis, as well as two or three brig’s Gen’s and several (2) American ladies. Serenaded one on way home by Ponte [Puente] de Ayala, then via Calle Marquez [Marques] de Comillas, home, late, had bath.
