Slept with boots on last night. But this morn only the usual number in sight. a 3.2 in. gun came up this a.m. –drawn by 35 coolies. Wrote to Miss Carrie Crawford and Chas. D. Gamble. We are in the edge of a typhoon which swept s. over the China Sea last night. The lake is a white waste of tumbling H²O and it rains siempre. Several drunken fights this a.m. Very cool and pleasant. Packed my Mauser today. Five men of the 12th were drowned today at Pasig ferry while coming over here with a field gun.
