Diary of Louise Fillmore Blancaflor

October 21, 1942

News came from Iloilo that many wealthy and prominent people have been concentrated by the Japanese, including Dr. and Mrs. (Bessie) Jalbuena and Bessie’s sister, Dr. and Mrs. Ledesma and Dorothy and Meñing Bernas. How fortunate we are to be out of Iloilo and still under the protection of the Army!

A plane passed over us this morning on its way to Negros Island. It is the first we have seen since our evacuation from Barotac.
