People coming from Northern Luzon brought the usual news that groups of “Tulisaffes” (short for tulisan, and USAFFE) attacked towns and Japanese garrisons in Ilocos and La Union. In reprisal, the Japanese burned down the towns of Agoo and Tubao, killing thousands of innocent residents.
