Last night was quiet, and also today, although we heard shooting in the distance. John went to the market this morning and bought 2 kilos of pork at 220 Pesos. One large size of KLIM (powdered milk), 21⁄2 lb. size costs 7,500 Pesos a can. Its pre-war price was 3 Pesos! One large can of Alpine Evaporated milk costs 300 Pesos – pre-war price was 14 centavos (7 cents). Every day the prices are rising and they have not reached the peak yet.

All day long American and Japanese planes have been flying over us. It is difficult to keep track of how many there are, as we see more planes now.
