November 20, 1944

Last evening was so beautiful – the sun was just setting and we had finished our supper, so we all went downstairs and sat outside. We enjoyed the evening for about 15 minutes, when suddenly the sound of a machine gun broke the silence! We all dashed inside! The shooting continued for a while (Japanese guns), then all was quiet. No doubt the Japanese thought they saw some USAFFE soldiers. The rest of the evening was quiet and we all slept well.

Today has been quiet. Only one Japanese plane flew overhead early this morning.
