December 8, 1944

11:25 a.m. Mr. Mori dropped in so we could go out together * * * and I exchanged views on activities for the youth movement.

3:30 p.m. Back at the NLA headquarters I gave instructions regarding the MAKAPILI inaugural to those who were attending.

4:10 p.m. Arrived in front the Legislative Building where the ceremonies of the MAKAPILI were to be held. We helped out as much as we could, helped arrange the chairs and divided the work of ushering.

5:10 p.m. ‘The speech of Gensral Yamashita was short and forceful and I tried my best to give the translation which I did as much power as I could. I was rather surprised by my voice which was at that moment very powerful instead of being hoarse as I expected it to be.
