I woke up as usual 5:30 a.m. Had breakfast. Took my blood pressure it was 160 mm. Systolic. I took a capsule of Rautrax. I think it was a mistake. The Japanese sphygmomanometer is probably not good. At about 9:30 a.m. after I had treated a patient, downstairs in the clinic, I felt very dizzy. I sent for Colonel Salacup who took my blood pressure. It was 60 Systolic.
I was carried upstairs to my bedroom. I then went into shock with profuse perspiration. Bombona called the priest from San Miguel who gave me the last sacraments. Dr. Busuego and Dr. de Jesus arrived as my heart stopped and they began a cardiac massage which revived me. Then I was connected to the cardiac monitor and cardiac pacer.
At 2 p.m. I was transferred by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. My condition still serious. I am still connected to the cardiac monitor and the cardiac pacer. I am given a drip of Dextrose 5% in H20 with Aramine, and another bottle with Isuprol. As soon as my pulse is lower than 45 beats per minute Isuprol is injected in the drip. The Aramine is given continuously to maintain the blood pressure within a normal range.
