Sandy Sambolawan offered as his excuse for voting “No” on the ban-dynasty resolution his opinion that it was not fair. He was for banning the delegates as well as the President. When I asked him whether or not he had voted “No” (as contended by Tony Ceniza last Saturday) because of the fact that his amendment was not allowed to be discussed at all, he replied, “Also.”

We agreed that during the discussion on the transitory provision, we should support the move to ban all elective officials, including ourselves. This would show to the world that we are not motivated by personal hatred for President Marcos, but rather that we are for democratizing the political process.
