The diaries reproduced here come from various sources. Some were previously published but are now out of print. Others have been published here for the first time. As much as possible, when already published, the editing of the published diaries has been retained. In some cases, annotations or footnotes have been retained. For diaries sourced from archival copies, the text has not been edited. For diaries that have not been previously published, when possible, a scan of the original pages will be provided along with the encoded text.
Biographical information on the authors and notes on sources have also been provided.
