We sailed 30 leagues and five morc: west by southwest. Today, the patax San Lucas was separated from the armada. The General had ordered it to go by the prow, ahead of the flagship at night. Tonight it rained a little. We lowered the main masts. The patax was sailing ahead. When morning came we did not see it. We had believed that it was ahead of us. We furled the sails. We were unable to see it.
