We sailed 26 leagues west in 16 hours. At six in the morning, the almiranta fired an artillery shot, as a signal that land had been sighted at south southeast. We sailed all day south southeast thinking we would find the land that they said they had seen. At six in the morning, we ran four leagues I measured the sun at midday at 10 degrees. We sailed till six in the afternoon four leagues south. We had the northeast wind. Having failed to sight land we set the prow west by northwest.
