This is a fine but “Hot” day we marched from our Outpost at 7 a.m. and didn’t drill until Evenig it being to hot the Native begin to peddle roasted chicken Soup and Brussil and the Boys buy plenty for besides our Hart Brew Beans Rice and a litle Fresh Meat Every other day there is nothing else chickens sell at 60ct Mexcan Mony (30ct our) Christopher Hanan Baird Jas Kennedy Curry J M. Sparks Conn and Miller G.W.

This is a fine but hot day. We marched from out outpost at 7 a.m. and didn’t drill until evening because it was too hot. The natives begin to peddle roasted chicken soup and brussel (sprouts?) and the boys buy plenty for besides our hart brew beans rices and a little fresh meat every other day there is nothing else. Chickens sell for 60 cents Mexican money (30 cents U.S.). [Frank] Christopher, [Max] Hannan, [James] Baird, [William] Kennedy, [John] Curry, [Ray] Sparks, [George] Conn and [George W.] Miller are on the sick list.
