August 12-13, 1910

On the 12th of August, Sergeant Hartman shot a dog, rowed with him into Crocodile River, tied the boat to a tree with a strong rope and soon after they tore it up. The next day he was sloppy and fell into the sea, rifle and all. I went  hunting at night with Sergeant McCardy, the mosquitoes were irritating us, went hunting with Ocvirk, the cook, went with the private soldier Polson hunting to the other side. Oh, such lovely, unforgettable memories.
