Bedie’s 11th birthday. I whispered a song to him with kisses. He received a bag with 12 pan de sal with “Happy birthday from Ismael and Nida.” He cried, “Oh Mummie, they are both alive!”

A ration of radish at noon—Jerry’s idea since we have no meal given us then and then something has to be done with the heap of radishes given us. Bedie had a fabulous party with five other boys in the backyard trench with contribution of food from two mothers. Enid and Nakamura are on the rampage over flies and dysentery.
