Venison again today for camp. All eat the same thing the same day due to jealousy. Each houseboy was going into hills to bargain with Negritoes. Some houseboys were more successful in bringing back supplies than others, so due to complaints this practice stopped. Now boys who find anything for sale must report it to Mr. Diaz, who speaks Visayan, who then buys supplies and prorates to households on basis of members in family. Beth and Clay, together, count as one, so my allotment of eggs yesterday was four, compared to two eggs to a woman who is alone. This woman complained loudly to me at this, saying her dog requires an egg every day and she saw no reason why I should get twice the number allotted her. This comparison of dog care with child care makes my temperature rise!
