I went to answer the three questions at the office where I received over P200 in Marie’s name. It is the felt and taffeta which will feed us eggs. We repaid John first.

“By Order of the Command, no more outdoor shacks of any kind are to be constructed within the camp as of today.” This applies to Will’s cave which has been tamped down with great labor, but cannot be used.  Mr. Tomibe says the digging will undermine and wash away the bank, that the outdoor shacks will be destroyed by steady rains and winds and that furthermore they look like beggars’ shacks and he does not care for them. Of course, the shacks also overlook the guards and the view, and the guards cannot see wha goes on inside so they do not like them either. The Japanese approve of the Underground homes.
