The guerrillas are no longer called “guerrillas”. They want to be known as “Indians”. Last night some of them entered Jaro. At about 3:00 a.m. we were awakened by gunfire not far from our house. We did not go downstairs as the shooting did not last very long. The next morning we heard that Dr. Hechanova’s house (on the outskirts of Jaro) was looted. The looters even took off the mosquito nets from off the beds. Thousands of Pesos, jewelry and clothing were taken. The looting of civilians is becoming worse every day. There is a bad element that has joined the guerrillas (Indians) and they cover up their crimes at the expense of the guerrillas.
