Constant air bombing by Japs. Just before beaching the ship was hit forward. 41 men killed, many hurt. Ship was set afire and some vehicles burned before fire was controlled. Went ashore 11:45 AM. Bivouac in a coconut grove. Constant air raids and AA Fire all afternoon. Night quiet except our field Artillery and rifle fire all around.
