The weather is fine and a niece Breese is blowing the biggest part of the day we are pretty comfortable now we are making good use of our Cots wich we recieved on the 3 d it is reported that there are 15 cases of smal pox has being ravnig here all the time Christopher Hanan Baird Kennedy Miller Dougherty & Cuite sick

It is reported that there are 15 cases of small pox. It has been raining here all the time. the Weather is as hot as ever we are doing regular routine of duty we have a “Grab vine” wich says that we are going home by the way of New York all Kinds of Rumor are afloat to day Christopher Hanan Baird Kennedy Miller Twist Hanan Daugherty and Cuite remain on the Sick List

Tuesday, October 4th, 1898

This is another fine day but verry “hot” we had General Inspection by Regular Army Officer he reported every think in pretty good shape with the Exception of Hair cuts and Shaves Christopher Hanan Baird Kennedy Miller Twist Daugherty Sparks and Cuite are on the Sick Book

Monday, October 3rd, 1898

This is another fine “hot” day Co C is on Guard at the prison we have regular Guard mount and a strickt Inspection by Major Cuthbertson who has a great desire to call the Co down ones a while but atmitted it to be verry good Christopher Hanan Baird Kennedy Miller Twist Daugherty Sparks and Cuite are on the Sick List

This is another fine, hot day. Company C is on guard at the prison. We have regular guard mount and a strict inspection by Major [Harry] Cuthbertson who has a great desire to call the company down once in a while but admitted [the inspection] was very good. Sunday, October 2nd, 1898

This is a beautifull day good many of the Boys attend Catholic cervice in the Morning in the Evening Chaplain Hunter holds services at the Opera House wich was well attended we all enjoyed it and the sacred Concert given by the Colerado Band up until now we hear nothing of the disposition of the Philipino Island Christopher Hanan Baird Kennedy Miller Twist Daugherty Curry Spark and Cuite are on the Sick Book

This is a beautiful day. A good many of the boys attended Catholic services in the morning. In the evening Chaplain Hunter held services at the Opera House which was well attended. We all enjoyed it and the sacred concert given by the Colorado Band. Up until now we have heard nothing of the disposition of the Philippine Islands.
