About Godfrey Roland Ames

About the author: Godfrey Roland Ames (May 4, 1912 — January 31, 1945), Captain, U.S. Army, Commanding Officer, Battery C, 60th Coast Artillery, Corregidor. West Point graduate, 1937; P.O.W., Philippines, survivor of the the Bataan Death March and the sinking of the Oryoku Maru on December 15, 1944. Wounded on the Enoura Maru on January 9, 1945 and later died from his wounds. Originally buried in Arlington National Cemetery, but was dis-interred and re-interred at West Point in 1990.
