About the author: Fay Cook Bailey (1897-1983) American banker; the MacArthur Memorial states that,

Fay Bailey and his family lived in Manila prior to Pearl Harbor. An employee of the Manila branch of the New York National City Bank, Bailey and his family were interned in Santo Tomas University upon the Japanese Occupation of Manila

The author’s papers are preserved in the MacArthur Memorial, Norfolk, VA, as Record Group – 98, Papers of Fay C. Bailey and Family.
