About Joseph K. Taussig

About the author: Joseph Knefler Taussig (August 30, 1877 – October 29, 1947), sailor, reached the rank of Vice Admiral. At the time of the diary, serving on the protected cruiser U.S.S. Newark, arriving in the Philippines in November, 1899 and in service there for five months.

The Philippine Diary Project contains only the entries from October 10, 1899, when his ship received orders to depart for Manila, to April 17, 1900, when his ship weighed anchor for Yokohama.
