The steamer went alongside the wharf at 6 a.m. and we disembarked. We had spent 43 days on the ‘Sherman’ and 3? days on the ‘Peking’, — 1 total of 80 days at sea. We breakfasted at the Ferry Depot at 8.30 a.m. and at 11 a.m. marched out to the Presidio Camp Where we
arrived at 2 pm.

The ship took on supplies in continuous rain. The rain lasted two whole days.

‘Sherman’ sailed at 4 p.m., arrived at lloilo at 6 and left there for Manila at 8 pm.

We left Bacolod at 6.30 pm. on a schooner and boarded the ‘Sherman’ at 1 a.m.

We left for Bacolod at midnight and arrived at 9.30 a.m. We were nearly wrecked when we were caught in a squall and had the sails carried away. We were driven onto coral reefs and had to wade ashore with water up to our necks, a distance of about 1,000 yards.
