December 7, 1931 Monday — Hong Kong

Awake at 8:30 and found the ship anchored at Kowloon. After breakfast went ashore with R[oxas], O[smeña], M[oreno] & S[abido] for a fitting at Powell’s and shipping at MacIntosh’s. Then cocktails at the Hong Kong Hotel and a Chinese luncheon across the street.  After a bit more shopping I returned to the ship for some sleep while R[oxas], O[smeña] and S[abido] drove around the city. At 6:00 Fernandez and I and the two younger Tironas went ashore to join the others but failing to find them returned to the ship. I spent the rest of the p.m. writing letters, to Mother, Pacita, Luis.
