BONTOC. Second Iieutenant KITAO returned to Group Headquarters but I am remaining with Colonel HORAN, for the present, in order to negotiate the surrender of his subordinates in MOUNTAIN province. This morning, moved with Colonel HORAN to the signal company headquarters house. HORAN said that this house was the house of the acting governor of MOUNTAIN Province, and probably the best constructed house in BONTOC.

At night soldiers with fixed bayonets alternately stand watch. HORAN and I joked about not escaping on this rainy evening, and said that. if one were to escape, he should plan an evening with good weather. This morning, MISOGUCHI Battalion Headquarters moved to VIGAN on the coast.
