Several counts every day by Japanese authorities to make sure no one has escaped. Meals consist of rice and sometimes a vegetable soup. Water situation has not been too bad because we caught plenty of rain water. I had sick call all A.M. to determine who couldn’t walk. Packed and right after lunch we. started hiking. Retraced our steps for 6 km. to a camp with water. Was exceedingly hot. I almost passed out before the first and only rest stop, but some salt and water fixed me up. Arrived feeling fine. New camp is not so nice. Very level muddy ground. Buildings the same. 108 living in our building. Latrines are terrible. Had supper at midnight.
