Got under way this morning about three o’clock, but, as it looked very squally after beating about all day, and as the men were all tired out, the captain thought best to come to an anchor in Mariveles Bay, a delightful little bay surrounded on three sides by very high land, so that we feel nothing of the hard weather outside, but we are all low in spirits, and I certainly never felt more gloomy. I thought I would give the world to be on terra firma or somewhere with my friends.
