MORE NEW EXPERIENCES. I ENTERTAIN A SCION OF FAMOUS

LINEAGE, CELEBRATE MY FIRST THANKSGIVING IN

THE PHILIPPINES AND SEE THE JANIUAY

POLICE FORCE IN ACTION

(BACK-ACTION).

For some reason or another, most Americans living up country here are on tenterhooks all the time, thinking there is going to be an uprising among the Filipinos soon. There is a lot of wild talk going the rounds and some express their wonder at my going on foot, and alone at that, between Janiuay and neighboring villages. I may be too optimistic, but I don’t expect an uprising or any serios trouble of any sort.

The other day, MicC——- in his perambulations about the town, came upon a nine-months-old half-caste American baby, who according to the mother is the son of one of the soldiers stationed here some time back. We are going to buy the youngster an outfit soon, for he hasn’t any too many clothes.
