January 31 was quiet in our vicinity, but yesterday the planes bombed somewhere in the mountains. Every day the planes are flying, and a short while ago we had a bad fright…one of the planes flew towards our house and tipped its wings! We all expected to be machine gunned! The plane was so low that we could see the pilot! We don’t dare leave any clothes on the line for fear they would be mistaken for people (from above). We try not to attract attention or suspicion, as machine gunning or bombing would surely take place.
Since the guerillas are now housed in nipa huts throughout the mountains, it is very dangerous for civilians who are also living in nipa huts throughout the mountains. This is why we must take every precaution.
