The 7 of said month, we sailed for better reconnaissance of the land, and saw it went South and a quarter league to the Southeast. Then we took the other side and measured 8 fathoms, and there measured the sun at 66o 30’ with a declination of 12o 15’, so our distance from the equinox line, for the Southern hemisphere, was 35o 3⁄4. We then set sail that day, and at night we measured 9 fathoms when dropping anchor, at Punta de San António (Cape White). It was to the South at 36o, and this was Tuesday, 7th day of the month.
