The 27th day of said month, I measured the Sun at 50o 1⁄4 with a declination of 4o 3⁄4, our elevation thus being 44o, and here we found a bay, and in front of it 3 leagues are two stones which, along with said bay, run East-West, and further on, we found another, and there were many sea lions therein, of which we took 8, and on land there are no people, yet it is good land and lovely treeless fields and very flat land.
