Le pañflage entre ces iles ne santoit être plus beau; il n’y a aucuñ danger, & l’on peut louvoyer par-tout. Il est vräi qu’on ne trouve de sond que tout près des côtes; Le.premier décembre , nous eûmes du calme, de la pluie & du tonnerre, & nous simes peu de chemin. Le 2, la mers’étantéclaircie, nous vimes la petite île:Bancou qui nous restoit à cinq lieues. l’ouest S. O. À une heure, ayant reconnu l’île Marindonqué , nous gouvernâmes. O, $, O. pour aller ranger sa pointe pointe méridionale, & éviter de tomber sur les deux Hermanas ou les deux Sœurs qui sont au -N. O. de l’île Bancou. Dans ce palsage qui a environ cinq lieues de largeur, les courans nous portoient asez rapidement sur l’île Mindoro. Nous nous sommes relevés en courant quelques bordées. La. pointe méridionale de Marindouqué eft terminée par un gros îlot. En remontant cette ile dahs sa partie occidentale, nous avons trouvé à deux lieues dela .côte trois ilots que: les Espagnols ont nommés les: Viregos, les Vicerois ::nous les avons doublés au une lieue de distance.
THE PHILIPPINES.
The passage amongst these islands could not possibly be more beautiful; there is no danger and one can beat about everywhere, although it is true there is no bottom except close to the shores. On the 1st of December the wind fell, and with it came rain and thunder, and we made little progress. On the 2nd, the sea having calmed down, we saw the little Island of Bancou five leagues to the W. S. W. At one o’clock, having sighted the Island of Marindonque, we steered W. S. W. in order to coast the southern point, and so avoid striking the Two Hermanas, or the Two Sisters, which are on the N. W. of Bancou Island. In this passage, which is about five leagues broad, the currents carried us rapidly along on to the island of Mindoro, but we recovered by tacking about. The southern point of Marindonque is terminated by a large islet. On coasting the eastern side of this island we found, at two leagues from the coast, three islets, which the Spaniards have named the Viregos, the Viceroys, which we doubled a league off.
