Nakamura at the Committee meeting burst forth profanely that we would not need the bomb holes in our roof mended for the rains as we would probably not be here then—that they might instead, as the Japanese did not seem to be doing so well lately in some respects!

The Gilberts, Marshalls, Carolines, are now ours with the Navy cleaning up as it goes. Filipinos are not allowed to talk to Americans any more. There may be restrictions of food gifts coming in to us.

A poster in town tells of Filipinos ordered back to work. that Americans have destroyed their fields and burnt their cane and they must get back to it. This could be guerrilla destruction. It is Union Now for all allies in the Far East, large and small, Americans, British, Dutch, Filipino, Chinese, Burman.
