Saturday Ft. Hughes

Boy, do I feel lousy this morning – all day in fact. I have one of the nastiest colds of my career. I took all sorts of medication but none of them seemed to do any good. My nose ran like a hose, I sweated, I felt lousy and devoid of pep or vim.

To feel bad in this place is the horrors and no fooling; it’s bad enough when you’re feeling all right. On watch this morning I watched the sun come up for the first time in two weeks and couldn’t help thinking how calm and peaceful things are. We fired a few rounds, and as usual, the Japs returned them.
