Up at 7¹⁵ & after Gen left office went around to see the people whom the Pershings had invited to dinner the day before to tell them to come to luncheon instead –Met Whitney & invited him to lunch –Walked up the line with him & stopped in on Pelham & the Fords who were stopping with Helfort for a call –played tennis later on & after it took a swim –at night went to dinner at the Lanes. The Pershings, Bowditches, Hanlons & Mr Brown were the other guests. It was an excellent dinner. To bed 11PM.
