At 3:30 a.m. I left Lennon’s hotel by car for Amberley Air Field. Arrived there at 4:35 a.m.Took off from Amberley Air Field on a C-54 at 6:35 a.m. I am occupy my Compartment — C. At 8:00 a.m. I heard on the radio that U.S Navy planes are bombing Manila and that Martial Law has been declared in the Philippines. We landed at 12:17 p.m. in Tantoula (1:17 p.m. local Time) Ate lunch. At 1:20 p.m. we took off (2:20 p.m. local Time) and landed at Nandi. Repeated Saturday due to date line. From Nandi we landed at Honolulu (Hickham Field). At 3:30 p.m. Had late luncheon and took off at 7:45 p.m.
