Up about 7 and fooled around office in the morning. Had intended to play polo in afternoon but Bowditch could not come & Gen said it looked like rain so I played tennis instead –after dressed Nagent & I called on the Starks & Connors down town but neither being home borrowed P2 from Dr. Saleeby the druggist so we could go to the morning oicture show — To bed 10³º

(December 10, 1882 – June 30, 1963) Aide-de-camp of Gen. John J. Pershing in the Philippines the time the diary was written in 1913. Subsequently attained rank of Major General.
