The night has been quiet everywhere. At 7 o’clock a guard of seven on horses were sent to Manila to escort the Paymaster out. At 9 a.m. the first company lined up for pay and were all paid in the trenches. Six men from each company receive furlough daily now to go to the City. Our mail left at noon. The rest of the day was quiet except the Utah Battery who sighted two rebel gunboats and sunk them both along with every man on board.
