Sun., Nov. 12, 1899

About 9 A.M, a white flag was seen and in a few minutes eleven Insurgents with their guns and ammunition surrendered to me. About 10 A.M. I was ordered to escort the Art. into Capas. In Capas we found the rest of our regiment, the 36th Inf. the 9th & 12th and Division headquarters. The town was so crowded that the Capt. and I had to rig up a shelter and sleep out of doors. About noon the 36th which had arrived the day before started out towards Tarlac. About 3.30 in the afternoon our bull train came up and we soon had the first square meal we had had since 4 A.M. the day before. We had been living on rice and sugar which we found in the town.
