The boys dropped in to tell me that we’re going through a flock of small islands. Still expect a visit from the Japanese via a torpedo. Colonel Carroll has been around, also Miss Feldmuth. Dr Roman has made a call or two, and my nurse, little Dolores (her fiance is still on the Island). Passanante’s leg is giving him quite some trouble, but a few mild opiates help. He’s a funny-looking guy. Had his head shaven the day before he was wounded. Father Shanahan just dropped in to say hello. Haven’t eaten much of anything.
