Five days ago, Commissioner Laurel was shot while playing golf at Wack Wack. Three of the seven bullets had caused him serious wounds, and there was a fear for his life. A medical bulletin from Malacañang, however, declared him out of danger.

The assailant was not known. He escaped and disappeared in the open golf course and under the noses of other golfers. Neither was the motive known. Probably, it was the work of an organized fifth column.
