October 27, 1944

The last three days have been quiet. American planes have passed overhead and sometimes

Japanese planes. But there have been no raids.

Dolly has been quite ill with inflammation of the gall bladder. She is somewhat better today.

Jr. is still in bed with the flu – he, too, is feeling better. It would be very difficult if I did not have a maid and cook.

Yesterday afternoon all our Japanese neighbors (soldiers) left their quarters so it is rather quiet. We hear no more shouting, and if one is not used to their shouts, it would sure get on one’s nerves.
