This is a fine morning but the sun is coming out hot. We have a sunshower in the morning at 10 am. In the afternoon it rained continuously until Taps. The mail didn’t leave as expected and likely [won’t leave] until next week. A bulletin states that mail will be here on the 9th or 10th. The merchants are raising the prices on everything. The saloons are doing a rushing buisness. Lieutenant [Robert] Wood and [Frank] Hustead are on the sick roll.

(I made a visit to the Colonel about my duties which went satisfactorily)
