Talked economics with Calhoun and Fred in a.m. in Fred’s shack. Meeting of [NCB] staff in evening—more economics. Problems to be met after the war are many and weighty. Japanese have presented a set of questions to determine public opinion regarding start of and duration of war and nature of peace. Answers not compulsory as yet. More discussion at Fred’s. Billy Hamilton fought in the ring. At 12:55 p.m. a strong quake. Santo Tomas got a good shaking, others before morning.
