Work was pretty easy at first food not so good but then they began to work us much harder. The men all began to go down fast with all kinds of sickness. There the Japs began to beat the men with pick handles an large sticks. Beat up two or three in hospital. Then some of the men got to breaking their arms on sticking picks in themselves, until the Japs would not let the doctors treat them unless they could prove it was an accident. This now the 9th of July 1944.
